This adorable baby was born 3 weeks ago with a problem with both of her front legs. The vet at K-State determined that she has luxated elbows on both of her front legs. It is most likely a congenital condition that caused the front limbs to rotate. Both elbow joints are completely dislocated as a result. The vet felt that this is something that can be corrected with surgery. A pin will be placed across both elbow joints to stabilize and correct the joints. She will require physical therapy after surgery and extensive home care. It is unclear at this time how much function she will regain or if her legs will fully recover. We are hopeful that this surgery will improve her condition immensely but she may never have the full range of motion after she has healed. At this time we ask for help to cover the cost of Athena's surgery/medical costs which is estimated to be approximately $2,700. Time is of the essence and the surgery can be done as soon as tomorrow however the payment in full is required at the time of surgery.
